Chalice and Paten-EW2970

This rich chalice is crafted in the Gothic style, which flourished during the twelfth century and featured more slender and stylized forms, giving a more spiritual and closer version of God. Expert construction, chiseling, engraving, and the best enamel work meet together on this chalice which could well be featured in a museum. The base has six hand painted fire enamelled panels featuring the Four Evangelists, the Crucifixion, and the Ascension, while the cup has a further three showing Christ, the Blessed Mother, and St. Joseph. The node is hand engraved with the word "Agnus" and a Chi-Ro symbol on the front. Includes a 6 1/4" scale paten with ring.
